Conveyor Belt Tensile Strength Parameters Explained

Conveyor Belt Tensile Strength Parameters Explained

Understanding tensile strength parameters is essential when selecting a conveyor belt for safe and reliable operation.
The following explanations describe how tensile force data is tested, defined, and applied in practical conveyor systems.

Test Conditions

Test Temperature
All tensile strength tests are conducted at room temperature.

Test Speed
The belt is tested at a defined running speed during the tensile test process.

Tensile Force Definitions

Maximum Tensile Force
The maximum tensile force refers to the force at which the conveyor belt fails or breaks during testing.

Yield Force (Allowable Working Force)
The yield force represents the recommended safe working load at which the conveyor belt can operate continuously without damage.

Belt Dimensions During Testing

Belt Width
The actual width of the conveyor belt used during the tensile test.

Belt Thickness
The overall thickness of the conveyor belt sample used for testing.

Material and Product Identification

Test Material
The material grade of the belt used during tensile testing.

Product Name
The specific conveyor belt model tested.

Tensile Force Conversion Method

During tensile testing, the conveyor belt is installed in a loop configuration, where both sides of the belt are subjected to force simultaneously.

In actual conveyor operation, the belt is typically subjected to force on one side only.

Therefore, the tensile force used for practical application should be calculated as follows:

  • The tested tensile force value is divided by two for actual working conditions.

  • Tensile force is then converted to a standard unit based on belt width:

(Test Tensile Force ÷ Belt Width × 1000 mm), expressed in meters (M).

This conversion ensures that tensile strength data is applied correctly and safely in real conveyor systems.

Data Source Statement

All tensile strength data published for individual products on this website is derived from standardized laboratory testing under the conditions described above.

Actual allowable working loads may vary depending on conveyor design, operating environment, product load, and application-specific conditions.
